NM Aging Services is also hosting an event on November 7, 2024 at Torreon Senior Center, however it does not provide the address for that event. There are multiple locations in New Mexico listed as “Torreon Senior Center,” including one location in Cuba and one location in Estancia (technically, the “Torreon Community Center”). Ironically, the one place where one would expect to have a senior center named the Torreon Senior Center, namely Torreon, does not have a senior center named the Torreon Senior Center. The senior center in Torreon, NM, is named the Ojo Encino Senior Center. I cannot state which location will be hosting the NM Aging Services event with any certainty.

In observance of Veterans Day, AWD will run the pet adoption event from October 28 through November 10 at all city shelters. Veterans only need to show proof of military status to receive the "Veteran's Appreciation" package, which includes:
- Free pet adoption that includes spay or neuter (for the pet);
- a custom pet tag;
- microchipping;
- vaccinations;
- one free initial veterinarian visit;
- one day of free basic dog training with every adoption (standard);
- One of a kind "Veterans Appreciation" certificate for a free one-year renewal of preventative care vaccinations with every pet adoption; and,
- FREE pet supplies voucher courtesy of Boofy's Best for Pets (The offer is valued at $50 to $70 and can be redeemed at either of their two locations with every adoption.)
- Additionally, Veterans will be able to talk with an adoption counselor to get assistance in finding the right pet who will best fit their family.
- Spread the word. Adopting a pet is a win-win for everyone involved. A faithful companion is gained, a friendship is formed and a life is saved. Pets can provide a calming, comforting presence for owners, including those experiencing anxiety or PTSD. View adoptable pets here.
