Moonlit Hike

- Explore Pecos by the light of the full moon! Join park rangers for a 1.25-mile guided hike, and learn more about the history of the area and the importance of our night skies.
- The hike is free, but limited to 25 attendees. Registration is therefore required; call the visitor center at 505-757-7421 to reserve a spot.

Guided Bird Walk
- Every Saturday and Sunday - 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM
- Rio Grande Nature Center State Park, 2901 Candelaria Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. The Park’s Day-Use Fee is $3.00 per vehicle (exact cash or check). Friends of the RGNC and NM State Parks annual permit holders enter free with a valid permit displayed.
- Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, insect repellent, and sunscreen as needed. Meet at the Candelaria Viewing Area (Northeast side of the parking lot).
Reptiles and Amphibians at the Park
- Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10:30 AM
- Especially for kids aged 5 to 10 years old. Children should always bring their own adult, so they can enjoy the program with their child. Meet in Visitor Center. Call to reserve a spot 505-344-7240. Amphibians and reptiles are collectively known as “herpetofauna” and are often lumped together. However, these two groups of animals are quite distinct! Learn about a few “herps” that live in the park and how the park provides habitats for these awesome critters.
