Federal Government

This Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, has been declared a National Day of Mourning in honor of former President Jimmy Carter. Many federal offices will be closed for the observance. National parks and visitor services will generally be open and available on January 9, 2025, but administrative offices will be closed. Visitors should check individual park websites prior to their visit for the most up-to-date information.

Department of Veterans Affairs

While January 9, 2025, is the National Day of Mourning for President Carter, all outpatient clinics and procedures that were already scheduled will not be canceled nor rescheduled by the VA, including Veteran Transportation Services. Veterans with appointments on January 9, 2025, will be seen as scheduled.
