Mountainair Town Council Expands the Town's Storage Capabilities

On November 15, 2022, the Mountainair Town Council met (in what was a remarkably efficient meeting for a municipal governing body) to address Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) records, the costs of repairing a polyethylene pipe welder used for natural gas, the purchase of a software module, and the purchase of a CONEX-style container (shipping container).  Mayor Peter Nieto noted that the town would host Severo y Grupo Fuego for the Mountainair New Year's Eve festivities and that the town would conduct its annual Christmas Lights Parade on December 22, 2022 at 6:30 PM.

Regarding the MVD records, the council unanimously voted to destroy records from January 2019 to October 2019. Similarly, the council voted unanimously to purchase the parts needed to repair the town's pipe welder, a purchase believed to cost $1,500 to $2,500 according to figures cited by board member Jose "Richard" Torres. Like these matters, the request to purchase software, namely the Tyler Income Fixed Asset Module, and the request to purchase a shipping container for storage were both approved unanimously. Mayor Nieto stated he believed the shipping container would cost the town between $6,500 and $8,000. The Town Council stated that the shipping container was needed for landscaping equipment and archives.

The Mountainair Town Council adjourned the meeting at 6:45 PM. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the Council Meeting Room.
