FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...
- WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. *
- WHERE...Portions of central and east central New Mexico, including the following counties, in central New Mexico, Lincoln and Torrance. In east central New Mexico, Guadalupe. *
- WHEN...Until 445 PM MDT. *
- IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. *
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 135 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Encino and Duran. - This includes the following highways... Highway 285 between Mile Markers 223 and 226. Highway 60 between Mile Markers 243 and 255. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings.
