Estancia Trustees Take Stock of Baseball Field Project
The Estancia Board of Trustees Meeting on May 20, 2024, involved minor decisions concerning operations at the town hall, training on the Open Meetings Act, and an update on the progress on the Estancia baseball field.
Beginning the first of July 2024, the Board decided unanimously, the town hall will be closing promptly at 5:00 PM. The board also decided that May 29, 2024, will have a special meeting of the Estancia Board of Trustees to review and approve the interim budget, to give town clerk Michelle Jones an opportunity to enter the budget into the Caselle finance application.
The board will be conducting Open Meetings Act training on June 13, 2024, in Moriarty and will have a signed code of conduct going forward. The training will be facilitated by the Estancia Valley Solid Waste Authority.
Trustee Albert Lovato updated that the baseball field construction was underway. He suggested that the field structures get decorated in the red and white colors used by the Estancia Public School District. Lovato said he was seeking donations from businesses for the baseball field and items needed for the field, such as bases, a chalk liner, and a batting cage. He questioned whether a special bank account would be needed for the baseball field.
The meeting closed to the public at its end for the board of trustees to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters. No official public statement was made as to the nature of these personnel matters.
